Best Practice Ideas
Good ideas should be shared. Yacht Clubs throughout New Zealand are facing similar challenges and are devising ways to tackle those challenges. Some working examples that Clubs have put into practice are useful reference to others and Yachting New Zealand is happy to publish here any models that can be considered, altered to suit circumstances and implemented. Yachting New Zealand is currently compiling a Best Practice manual which will be made available. Please contact National Programmes Manager, Andrew Clouston to discuss anything relating to this page of the website or the manual. Email him on andrew@yachtingnz.org.nz

The Club has agreed for this Strategic Plan to be published by Yachting New Zealand and it is available to view now - click here.
“One matter I would like to emphasis is that other clubs shouldn't just copy this plan, or some other precedent. The planning process is the most important part - more important than the piece of paper you come out with. If anyone wants to discuss this more, I am happy to do so,” offers John Grace who had an integral role in the planning.

June 2006
Yachting New Zealand was recently asked by a member organisation to seek clarification as to the affect of the above Act on sports organisations, following some confusing advice with respect to that organisation’s tax exempt status.
To assist other member organisations in this matter, the clear response from Yachting New Zealand’s general counsel, Simpson Grierson, is now available to view by clicking here.
In essence the Charities Act 2005 will not affect the tax exempt status of sports organisations that rely on the tax exemption for bodies promoting amateur games and sports.
